25 Jul Kenya June 2016 Field Notes

The Unstoppable team has just returned from hosting two full weeks of donor trips to visit our projects in Kenya. And what an amazing trip it was!

Our donor guests witnessed first-hand the extraordinary progress being made and the tremendous determination, commitment and gratitude of community members whose lives are being changed because of their support.

One of the highlights of the trip was when our donors fetched water alongside the mamas.

Each day, mamas hoist 40 pounds of water onto their backs and carry it home – a trek they make several times a day. It’s humbling to realize that these women must do this every day to survive while our guests struggled to complete one trip without help from the mamas.

As you can see in the photo, the water is very dirty.  And to think that before our Sponsor a Village 5-Pillar Development Model is implemented, they drink, cook and clean with this water.

That’s why our Water & Sanitation pillar is so vitally important and why it’s a part of our 5-Pillar development model.

By providing clean water at the school, girls are able to attend class and bring clean water home for the family.  And now, for the first time ever, many families are able to plug into the bore hole water system (a very deep well) and bring clean water to their homes!
