Current Projects

It began with a dream…became a goal…and is now a reality!

In less than a year, with the help of generous organizations and individuals, the Unstoppable Foundation has provided the funds to build ELEVEN schools and deliver life-giving services to children and their families in KENYA, LIBERIA and UGANDA. But we’re not just building schools; we’re building communities that encourage education.
And we’re just getting started…

OUR UNSTOPPABLE GIVING GOAL: BUILD 40 SCHOOLS & SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES

Kenya

GOAL: 25 SCHOOLS

In partnership with Free the Children, we’ve already completed 5 schools and have broken ground on the two more, providing life-saving services to two communities in the Masaai Mara district of Kenya. Our goal is to complete 25 schools by the end of the year, supporting over 2,000 children and their families. One of the communities we’re supporting is Emori Joi, Kenya.

When choosing which areas to build schools, Free the Children chose the community of Emori Joi—a community of just 2,000 people or 240 families—because the Elders of the Community had such a commitment to education and built the first school ever in this region.

I had the opportunity to visit this community as well as other communities we’re supporting in Kenya and see our projects first hand.

Liberia

GOAL: 9 SCHOOLS & 500 WOMEN SCHOLARSHIPS

Liberia is a country with a huge need—and you can see it everywhere. Buildings are decimated, infrastructure is nearly non-existent-- the result of a 14 year civil war. 85% of Liberians are illiterate. 80% of girls have had a baby by age 12. The #1 concern for women is their safety.

With this great need comes a great opportunity to make a significant difference.
While visiting our work in Liberia this summer, we were able to visit the site of our first project, Becky Primary in the Kakata community in Margibi County.

This is the largest school project that Youth Action International has spearheaded and is now educating over 600 children.
I also had the privilege of delivering an Unstoppable workshop for 30 Women graduating from the Women’s Empowerment Center and had a face-to-face meeting with the President of Liberia, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, (the first woman president in Africa). She shared with us her country’s vast needs and we responded with a solid commitment to be a part of the rebuilding of this extraordinary country.

The ravages of war have nearly decimated this beautiful country, but not the spirit of the Liberian people.

Uganda

GOAL: 4 SCHOOLS

In partnership with The Collective Heart and the Mark Victor Hansen Foundation, we supported our in-country partner, Just Like My Child, to complete their first primary school in the community of Katikamu, Uganda and begin construction on another. Our funds also helped to supply books, school supplies and hire qualified teachers. This school will serve over 150 children—many of whom had no previous access to education at all.

Just Like My Child is continuing to support them with business and administrative training so the school will be sustainable long after we are gone. JLMC’s model includes teacher housing, allowing teachers to remain close to the school without struggling to travel far distances each day. Thus enabling students to be more successful, as a result.
