13 Aug Kenya Journal: Pimbiniet…

Kenya Journal – Welcome to Pimbiniet – Our Second of 11 Unstoppable Communities.

The community of Pimbiniet can only be reached by traveling down a long, deeply-rutted road, which makes for a very bumpy ride!

As we turned into the Pimbiniet Primary School campus, we could hear the children already chanting “We Are Unstoppable!”

They enthusiastically took us by the hand and proudly gave us a tour of their new classrooms and brand new library! As we were walking with the children, we heard the principal’s voice over the school intercom asking the children: “What is the best school in the whole world with the smartest and hardest-working students?”

The students cheered in one voice: “PIMBINIET!!!”

These children truly ARE unstoppable, and the pride they have in their school and their determination to make it THE BEST in the region (in the entire country, even!) resonated throughout the entire community.

In fact, from the moment we stepped onto the school grounds, the children, parents, teachers, village leaders and elders who had gathered to welcome us, all displayed an incredible amount of community and school pride. We could FEEL it and SEE it everywhere, and it was a joy to witness.

From the cleanliness of the classrooms to the flourishing school gardens overflowing with fresh vegetables ready for harvest, it was clear that every person had a contributing role in maintaining and improving the school’s environment, programs and activities.

We were touched and inspired by their determination and commitment to make the most of their education, and we absolutely loved watching their excitement as they shared their dreams and goals.

Pimbiniet

Mr. Thomas, the principal of Pimbiniet told us, “School pride is a feeling deep down inside of us. We feel it each morning when we walk through the front doors of our ‘House’. It’s pride, it’s caring, it’s treating each other with respect and it holds a very special place in our hearts! So, even though you can’t define it in one word, you know it when you see it, hear it and feel it. It’s alive and well here at Pimbiniet!”

This passion and pride described by Mr. Thomas demonstrates their collective commitment to working together to improve their community. They’re dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty once and for all and never needing “charity” again!

We’re so proud of what they’ve accomplished in implementing all five pillars of the Sponsor a Village model. Pimbiniet represents everything we envision for ALL of our communities and they are the model for others in the region.

The Pimbiniet community proves that providing them with a “hand up” and partnering together to implement the Sponsor a Village model truly works.

It works to empower, to educate, to inspire, and to create lasting change.

I hope you’re inspired by the role you’ve played in Pimbiniet’s transformation whether it was through a financial contribution, or holding these children in your heart and prayers.

(And I’d love to hear your thoughts, so be sure to comment below!)

If this feels as exciting to you as it is to us, we’d love for you to help partner us with more communities like Pimbiniet and be a part of bringing hope, health and a better future to the 800,000 people in the Maasai Mara.

We can’t do it without you.
