Augora Hills, California – Grammy-award winning singer, songwriter, producer, and tireless champion for girls’ education, Nelly Furtado, rocked the house when she broke into song after receiving the Unstoppable Achievement Award at the 8th Annual Unstoppable Gala on March, 25, 2017. Two graduates from the Oleleshwa High School that Nelly and the Unstoppable Foundation helped fund joined her on stage for a rendition of her pop hit, “Spirit Indestructible”.

Best-selling authors, renowned speakers, global thought-leaders, celebrities, NFL Hall-of-Famers, and business luminaries gathered together at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, in Beverly Hills, California to raise awareness and funds for the Unstoppable Foundation.

Holly Robinson Peete, actress, singer and philanthropist, entertained the audience as Master of Ceremony. Pop icon, Paula Abdul, introduced Founder and CEO of the Unstoppable Foundation, Cynthia Kersey. The award-winning, multi-platinum selling band, The Tenors, sang a moving rendition of Leonard Cohen’s sensational song “Hallelujah” and brought attendees to their feet when they closed the evening with their latest hit, “Under One Sky”.

Dylan McDermott and Maggie Q took to the podium to make the Gala’s biggest announcement –the launch of the first college of its kind in the Maasai Mara region of Kenya and an Unstoppable Scholars program to help qualifying high school graduates continue their education.

“This college will be a real game-changer for these students and the communities we serve,” said Cynthia Kersey, Founder and CEO, Unstoppable Foundation. We’re thrilled to be able to work with our implementing partner, WE Charity, to provide a full circle solution that will truly transform this region of the world. Through our Unstoppable Scholars program, we will ensure every qualified student receives a full scholarship so that they will get the education and training they need to raise the standard of living for themselves and for their entire community”, said Cynthia Kersey, best-selling author and founder of the Unstoppable Foundation.

Mary Morrissey, international speaker, best-selling author and one of the elite teachers in the personal development field, received the Unstoppable Legacy Award for her tireless dedication to ensure that thousands of children and their families have a bright future through the Unstoppable Foundation’s 5-Pillar Sustainability Model.

The evening featured once-in-a-lifetime auction experiences such as private dinners with Deepak Chopra, X-Prize Founder and CEO, Peter Diamandis and Bill Harris; 40 Years of Zen training with Bulletproof’s Dave Asprey; and tickets to the award-winning, sold-out performance of Hamilton.

“The 8th Annual Unstoppable Gala was a tremendous success! We exceeded our fundraising goal and provided an inspirational experience for our guests,” said Kersey. “With the help of our generous Unstoppable Gala donors, we will be able to fund the implementation of our 5-Pillar model, from beginning to end, for the Olmusereji Community, impacting more than 2,000 men, women and children.”
