Education Update

BEFORE Sponsor A Village:

7 new classrooms constructed; construction of 8th classroom in progress
Classrooms outfitted with furnishings and textbooks
Boarding blocks for 7th and 8th grade students under construction to allow older students from more distant communities to regularly attend school

Water & Sanitation Update

BEFORE Sponsor A Village:

Households have no access to clean water
Sorely inadequate latrines & hand-washing stations
Women & girls spend 6-8 hours a day collecting water
Communicable diseases are rampant due to contaminated drinking water & poor hygiene

AFTER Sponsor A Village:

7 latrine blocks completed; dedicated latrine blocks for boys, girls and teachers increases school attendance, particularly among girls
Households have received training on harvesting rainwater, have installed rain gutters, and are digging dams to facilitate clean water collection
Community training has educated residents on water treatment methods to eradicate waterborne diseases
Construction of a borehole scheduled to begin in 2019

Food & Nutrition Update

BEFORE Sponsor A Village:

AFTER Sponsor A Village:

All students receive a nutritious daily school lunch, resulting in increased health, attendance and school performance
Student agriculture club Jordan Boys Shoes has received training on organic farming, compost-making, farming techniques and environmental pollution
Students are preparing to launch and maintain a school garden where students can implement agricultural learning and grow crops to support the school nutrition program
32 community members attended an agribusiness training to identify local cash crops which are high in demand and low in supply
Community members received training on growing bananas and received shoots to plant on their own farms

Healthcare Update

BEFORE Sponsor A Village:

No access to healthcare
High childhood mortality rate
Plagued by preventable diseases such as typhoid, dysentery & respiratory infections
Health education non-existent

AFTER Sponsor A Village:

All students receive regular de-worming treatment
Dermatological health outreach in the community has screened and treated community members for scabies and other prevalent skin infections, reducing the spread of highly nike dunk high blue satin communicable skin diseases
Health education workshops have taught children proper hand-washing and hygiene techniques to reduce the incidence of preventable diseases

Income Training & Empowerment Update

BEFORE Sponsor A Village:

Insufficient income for parents to support their families resulting in extreme poverty
Many community members live on less than $1 a day
Periods of severe drought impedes income earning potential

AFTER Sponsor A Village:

The community now has 6 registered opportunity groups – 1 men’s group, 2 women’s groups and 3 youth groups
All opportunity groups have received training on financial literacy, and will form Village Savings air jordan 11 cherry holiday 2022 and Loan Associations (VSLAs) in the upcoming year
The Simotwet Women’s Group purchased two goats as part of the group’s investment plan; the sale of milk and offspring will support members’ livelihoods
The Kipasan Men’s Group leased two acres of land, where they planted wheat nike outlets sell jordan 1
The Orkapoli and Oldonyo Lasho Youth Groups were jointly trained on proposal writing and business development
